The emergence of the Mongol Empire in the 13th century was a turning point in human history. The dramatic change in the human world after this turning point was positive, especially for Europeans. It is my belief. Before the Mongol Empire, there was no communication between the East and the West. At that time, the world was wide. Many different forms of natural barriers—rivers, mountains, deserts, impenetrable dense forests, and enormous plains—were between them, and they didn’t have any reason to cross over all of them. Communication and the exchange of ideas could now be possible after the emergence of the Mongol Empire. Gunpowder, paper, and compasses were introduced from the East to the West, and the concepts of chemistry, astronomy, and mathematics were transferred from the West to the East.
Batu Khan was the front-runner by breaking the wall between the east and the west, yet his story has not been told often to the public, which motivated me to write about it. All these stories were written based on the most trusted histories. When different theories related to the same event conflicted, I picked the most probable one based on my common sense. The only fictionalized areas in this book were episodes written for the purpose of connecting stories and making the reading smoother.

Genghis Khan's name never fails to elicit strong, passionate reactions, and he is usually introduced with phrases ranging from the great conqueror to Evil incarnate. Written by author Sam Djang, this book revisits and takes a closer look at his life rather than limiting him to a few glib phrases.
Born Temujin, this courageous, astute boy from the Mongolian Plateau learned from nature and his surroundings. Endowed with the qualities of leadership and a ruthlessly strong will, Genghis Khan was driven by the desire to unite the various tribes under one banner. An able administrator and a crafty warrior, he founded one of the largest empires in history, stretched from the China Sea in the east to the Caspian Sea in the west, from Siberia in the north to Central China in the south, and was informed by the ideas of religious tolerance, unity, and meritocracy.
